Academy 14216 Dokdo (LPH 6111) Rok Navy
ROKS Dokdo is a contemporary, South Korean, universal amphibious assault ship. The launch took place in July 2005, and entry into service took place in 2007. The ship is 199 meters long, 31 meters wide, and has a full displacement of about 18,800 tons. The maximum speed of the ship is around 23 knots. The unit is armed with two 30mm Goalkeeper CIWS sets and a RIM-116 missile launcher. The ship can also use up to 10-15 manned aircraft - especially helicopters.
ROKS Dokdo is currently the only unit of its class, and plans to build another three units of this type are realistic. Dokdo is currently South Korea's largest navy. It was created as part of the naval development program announced in 2001. Its main task is to carry out amphibious operations, as well as to support troops already fighting on bridgeheads. The unit is able to carry an landing force of up to 720 soldiers, along with the necessary security vehicles. South Korean authorities declare that the ship will not be used as a light aircraft carrier, although such a change in its character requires only minor changes. Dokdo's construction cost is estimated at approximately $ 266 million, according to 2011 prices.
